Pray & Prepare for the Mass

November 23, 2025 | The Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe

The first reading recalls the anointing of David as king of Israel. Saint Paul, writing to the Church at Colossae, describes the divine dignity of Christ, who is the firstborn of all creation in whom all things hold together. In the Gospel, the rulers and soldiers mock Jesus and ask why he does not save himself. One of the criminals crucified next to Jesus asks to be remembered when he comes into his kingdom.

November 30, 2025 | First Sunday of Advent

In the first reading, the prophet Isaiah describes a vision of an ideal time of peace when all nations will come to the mountain of the Lord. Saint Paul urges the faithful of Rome to be ready, for the time of salvation is nearer now than when they first believed. In the Gospel, Jesus teaches his disciples that they must stay awake, for they do not know when the Son of Man will come. He gives examples throughout history of people not being prepared.
