The parishioners in the Bereavement Ministry bring their own life experiences with grief and bereavement to the care and support of families following the death of a loved one. They offer spiritual and emotional support as well as expertise in helping plan for the funeral rites.
In addition, they follow up with families through cards and an annual invitation to a Memorial Mass on All Souls' Day.
The Bereavement Ministry strives to put into life the second of the eight Beatitudes of Jesus, "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted."
As soon as the parish office is notified of the death of a parishioner and funeral arrangements are being made (usually via the funeral home & funeral director), a member of the Bereavement Ministry is assigned and reaches out to the family contact. For more information, contact Michael Halbrook via the parish office.
